Dr. Roy M. Stephen
Arise Research and Discovery is under the direction of Dr. Roy M. Stephen. Dr. Stephen is a soil chemist with over 35 years of experience in the field of research. He began at Lake Land College and the University of Illinois where he spent 11 years in field research science, as well as 5 years with American Cyanamind Company in research and development as well as 1 year each with TSM Services, a soil fertility firm, and Great Lakes Hybrids working with biotechnology in-breds. Dr. Stephen has recevied an Associates Degree from Lake Land College, A Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Illinois University and his Advanced Degrees from the University of Illinois.
Jim Porterfield
Jim Porterfield is retired from the Research Division of the American Farm Bureau Federation where he authored over 30 papers ranging from nitrogen rate efficacy to innovation and practical innovations in Agriculture. Jim has also conducted and managed the "Watershed Hero's Conference" for many years. As a consultant with Arise Research and Discovery, Jim Porterfield makes a significant contribution to the quality of the technical support writing of our research projects.
Mr.Porterfield has written a report The Quest for the Perfect Soil which has drawn National attention.
Interns
College level Interns are employed during the busy season to provide support for the greenhouse, turf, vegetable, forage and crop operations.
